Ask me anything
chicagoland twenty-what. queen of spilling coffee on myself and yelling about Harry Potter.
I spend most of my time thinking about comix, Doctor Who, coffee and thrift stores. I write a zine called Coffee Spoons, and I keep a vaguely professional comics blog here.
thinking a lot about grls in comic culture, how easy it is to be discouraged as a woman in a fandom, and how generally unwelcoming nerd culture can be to ladies. TBH i have had largely positive experiences going to cons/writing and selling my own comics/working long-term at a very superhero-based comics store but then i think about the ten-year-old girl who admitted to me that the skimpy costumes on covers made her uncomfortable to look around our store, and i think of the older woman who stopped me & haleigh in a bathroom at a con while we were putting on lipstick and said “it’s so nice that you’re here, it’s so nice women are here, finally,” and i think of the bullshit statuses that people i went to school with post about “nerd girls” and i feel so discouraged.
